šÆ A client would always leave me a $100 tip, and when I found out who he really was, I was shocked.
Iāve been working as a waitress in a cafĆ© in our neighborhood for two years now, and for the past year, thereās been a client who consistently leaves a $100 tip.
Heās an older man who comes every Sunday. He always sits by the window, orders a coffee and a sandwich, and usually spends his time looking out the window.
He doesnāt speak much, but what amazed me every time was that he always left such a generous tip, far beyond the cost of his order and meal.
At first, I thought he was just a particularly generous man who came to change his mind, maybe he felt lonely. He sometimes seemed tired, almost exhausted, and didnāt talk much, but he never forgot to leave the tip.
One day, I decided to take a photo of him and post a thank-you message on social media to show him how much I appreciated his kindness. I hoped it would lift his spirits.
The post got a lot of kind comments and shares from people, which made me even happier. I thought he would see all of this and feel valued.
Soon after, I received a call. I finally found out the identity of my generous client, and it completely shocked me.
The rest of my story is in the first comment of the article ššš.
My mom called me, clearly panicked.
āItās your father, Jess,ā she revealed.
She explained that my father, who had abandoned me when I was a baby, had come back, sick, probably with cancer.
He had been looking for me, but my mom had forbidden him to contact me.
She confessed that for the past few months, he had been coming every Sunday without me knowing, just watching me from a distance, simply wanting to be near me.
His generosity wasnāt just about money.
It was his way of trying to make up for the harm he had done.
The time he had lost, all the missed opportunitiesā¦
The following Sunday, he was there, as usual.
I confronted him. āWhy didnāt you tell me?ā I asked him.
He didnāt even know where to start to fix what he had broken.
He only had excuses, and I had nothing but endless questions.
