Ruth suspected her husband, Wyatt, of infidelity after he started leaving the house at odd hours following phone calls.
She hired a detective. Then, discovers a woman, but by then she has already made a huge mistake that she can’t make up for.
Dr. Matthew held the results in his hands, feeling the weight of the news he was about to announce.
His eyes were filled with empathy and professional concern as he looked at Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. I think it would be best to talk to Mrs. Johnson alone.
Wyatt, his voice cutting through the tension in the room, said, “There are no secrets between us, doctor.”
Wyatt’s wife Ruth sat next to him and seemed lacking in confidence and less ready to face the unknown.
Squeezing her hand gently but firmly, he assured her that we were on the same boat, Ruth.
Dr. Matthew hesitated for a moment recognizing their connection before he began speaking. “After conducting numerous tests, we have found that you, Wyatt, are in perfect health,” he began, his voice calm and calm.
The problem lies in Ruth’s previous births. Dr. Matthew, with a gentle tone but unyielding in his honesty, continues, “This is the reason you can’t conceive.”
Wyatt reacted quickly and deeply. Moments before, his face was covered in a mask of composure, but now it was filled with surprise and disbelief.
Sensing Wyatt’s change in demeanor, Ruth tightened her grip on his hand, a silent plea for them to stay connected in this moment of upheaval.
“The scarring in the uterus is too bad,” Dr. Matthew explained, sounding empathetic. “Natural conception can be difficult, but there are other options we can explore,” he offered, bringing hope to a seemingly hopeless situation.
When they left the clinic, the warm, united front that had characterized their arrival was nowhere to be seen. The car ride home was deafeningly silent.
It was only when they were safely inside their home that Ruth finally found the strength to break the silence.
“I know I should have told you, but I didn’t know how to talk about it,” she said, her words filled with regret.
Wyatt reacted differently than he usually did. He walked slowly upstairs, each step heavy with unexpressed hurt and anger.
“How long are you going to ignore me? We live in the same house together!” Her words echoed down the hall, begging him to face the problem rather than avoid it.
How many years have we been trying to have a child? “Night, ten?” Finally, Wyatt spoke, his voice soft but filled with an emotional intensity that greatly increased Ruth’s anxiety.
He went on to say, “You knew why we couldn’t have children, and you lied to me.”
Ruth stammers, saying “I didn’t lie to you, I just didn’t tell you…” before being interrupted by Wyatt’s overwhelming presence.
Wyatt accused, his words sharp and precise: “For years, you acted desperate and sad, and yet you continued to prevent us from taking the test.”
“Deep down, you knew you were the problem!” he exclaims, raising his voice for the first time.
“I’m the problem? You didn’t even want kids in the first place! I’m the one who convinced you!” Ruth retorts, her voice rising with a mixture of guilt and defiance.
Wyatt’s frustration is at its peak. “You’ve lied to me for years, Ruth! And it’s clear you have no remorse.”
“I wonder how many other lies you’ve told,” Wyatt continues.
Ruth fought back, driven by annoyance and no longer seeking to justify herself. “Everyone has secrets, Wyatt, including you! Don’t you dare think I don’t know about…” she began, but her words trailed off, giving way to a uncomfortable silence.
“Know what ?” Wyatt asks, looking confused.
Wyatt waited for a response, but received none. He turned around and walked up the stairs, shaking his head in anger.
“Tonight I’m going to sleep in the guest room!” he said.
Ruth stood next to the stairs, filled with anger. She muttered to herself that he knew exactly what she was talking about, her mind flashing back to the many times she had seen him leave the house as soon as his phone rang.
“Wyatt, we need to talk,” she said softly. But before she could continue, the ringing of Wyatt’s phone interrupted them.
Ruth watched, expecting Wyatt to pull out his phone and check the caller ID, but he didn’t. Instead of
this he stood up with a sudden decisiveness that took her by surprise.
“I’m going out for a while. You can text me if you want anything,” he said casually, his tone masking the tension that had just filled the room.
She drove carefully, keeping a good distance behind Wyatt’s car, careful not to attract his attention, but also desperate to know the truth.
Ruth saw Wyatt’s car stop in the parking lot of a small cafe from a distance. She loved this place, located near their residence.
She carefully parked her car some distance from the cafe, out of sight, so Wyatt wouldn’t notice her.
“It’s very likely that she’s just a friend,” Ruth tried to reassure herself.
She then watched as her husband stood up and kissed the woman. It wasn’t a quick, friendly hug; it lasted longer than Ruth found comfortable.
Ruth fumed as she saw her husband gently caressing the woman’s hands, holding them far too intimately.
Before Emily could say anything, Ruth informed her that she had found a private investigator online who was affordable and promised quick results.
Emily watched in silence as her friend sent her husband’s photos and the location of the cafe to the private investigator.
As the evening drew to a close, Emily looked at Ruth with tired eyes. “Are you sure the private detective will call you back today? It’s been five hours!”
Ruth was about to answer when her phone rang. “Okay, I’ll send you my location,” she said.
“Maybe you’re misunderstanding the situation. Maybe it’s a family member or something,” Emily suggested, hoping to change her friend’s mind one last time.
Ruth shakes her head, looking sad. “Wyatt’s only living family member is his grandmother. His entire family was killed in the witness protection incident, and he only survived because he was staying with his grandmother. ”
Ruth handed her an envelope of money when the investigator arrived, then he showed her a photo, stating that her husband was indeed cheating on her.
After looking closer, Emily noticed, “It’s just a peck on the cheek.” But by then, Ruth had slammed the restaurant door.
“We asked for concrete evidence, and you present it to us?” Before getting up and following her friend, Emily scolds the investigator.
I am not responsable! He sneers that she was already suspicious.
Meanwhile, Ruth fumed in anger upon arriving home and noticing Wyatt’s absence.
When Wyatt finally returned, he greeted her warmly.
“Where were you ?” Ruth asks.
“I went out to a cafe. I just spent a little time there and came back,” he replied.
“You spent hours there!” his voice rose, indicating his growing anger. “You’re cheating on me, Wyatt! There’s no point in denying it!”
“What are you talking about, Ruth? I would never do that to you!”, he continues, genuinely perplexed.
Ruth turns to Wyatt apologetically after returning to the waiting room. I am really sorry. Ruth starts by saying “I’ll tell you everything…” but Wyatt interrupts her.
He asks the question with a sincere voice: “Do you really think my feelings for you will be affected by our inability to have children?” What you tell me won’t change anything. Wyatt put his arms around her and said, “I married you because I love you and I need you to trust me.”
Wyatt, I trust you. “When Wyatt leaned over and kissed her passionately on the lips, Ruth interrupted her words.
More than ever, Ruth believed that Wyatt’s love for her was unwavering and that nothing could change it.
