After my uncle’s funeral, I received a letter written by him: “I lied to you your whole life; it’s time you knew the truth”

😔 After my uncle’s funeral, I received a letter written by him: “I lied to you your whole life; it’s time you knew the truth.” What I discovered while reading that letter broke my heart.

I was 4 years old when we had a car accident. My parents died on the way to the hospital, and I could never walk again.

My uncle took me in and raised me alone, refusing to let me go to an orphanage. To others, he was a strict man, but to me, he was the safest person in the world, and I loved him deeply.

He did everything he could to make sure I lacked nothing.

I was already grown when he became ill. It was a very serious illness, and after several months of struggle, it took him away.

After the funeral, our neighbor came to see me, holding an envelope in her hand.

“Your uncle asked me to give this to you when he was no longer with us,” she said, placing the envelope on my lap.

“He also asked me to tell you he was sorry,” she whispered as she walked away.

I opened the envelope and found a letter addressed to me. I expected words of comfort or a final goodbye, but I froze when I read the first sentence:

“Hanna, I lied to you your whole life; it’s time you knew the truth. I’ve kept this secret for 20 years.”

What I discovered while reading this letter broke my heart.

It read: “After the accident, your parents were not dead.

But when the doctors announced that you would never walk again, they made a terrible decision.

They abandoned you.

They could not accept your dependence and chose to disappear from your life.”

I felt my heart shatter into a thousand pieces.

All my life, I had believed that they left too soon, that they loved me, but that fate had been cruel.

But the truth was far more bitter: they had rejected me.

After my uncle’s funeral, I received a letter written by him: "I lied to you your whole life; it’s time you knew the truth"

Then my uncle added, with painful tenderness: “I did everything I could to be the parent you deserved.

And if one day you want to see them, I left their contact information below.”

Tears streamed down my cheeks.

I was angry, but I also felt an immense love for the one who had saved me.
