At 102 years old, Peggy Konzack is an amazing lady who continues to teach children how to swim. For over fifty years, Peggy has been sharing her love of the water with children, and her journey is truly inspiring.

Originally from Los Angeles, Peggy was born on June 5, 1921. Later, she moved to Butte, Montana, where she met her husband. In 1945, the couple decided to live in Roseburg, a lovely small town in Oregon.

At first, Peggy had very different aspirations. She wanted to be a hairdresser and had even started training. But sometimes life takes unexpected turns.

At forty-six, she learned that the local lifeguard was retiring and looking for a replacement. Despite being inexperienced but incredibly determined, she applied for the job. She was considered too old and inexperienced.

However, Peggy did not give up. She successfully passed the teaching certification tests and began teaching swimming to young children.

Peggy’s longevity is partly due to her active lifestyle. “I practice swimming and teach classes, then I come home. I feel great and am able to handle the rest of the day. It keeps me going,” she says with a kind wink.

This activity has brought her health and vitality, defying stereotypes about old age.
