But something caught my attention. I discreetly watched them through the window when I noticed that the garbage bag was still there in the yard while they were doing something in front of the bushes.
The girl stood behind her brother, as if to hide something from prying eyes. The boy looked around before taking something out of his pocket.
He quickly placed it in the bushes, and then the two children hurried away.
I waited until they were far enough away to make sure they wouldn’t see me leaving the house. I approached the bushes and lifted the leaves.
I saw something carefully wrapped. I slowly pulled it out, and what I discovered prompted me to call the police immediately.
