đŠ Every morning, I thought my daughter was going to school, until one of her teachers called me to tell me that she had skipped school all week: I followed her the next day, and what I discovered left me speechless.
My daughter is 14 years old, and she is a good student. Sometimes she can be a little moody, but I think thatâs perfectly normal for a teenager her age.
I had never had any problems with her, at least thatâs what I thought until the day I received a call from the school. It was one of her teachers.
âDo you know that your daughter has skipped school all week?â she said.
âThatâs impossible. I take her to school every morning, and I see how she enters the building. You must be confusing her with another student,â I replied, very sure of myself.
âNo, maâam, itâs definitely your daughter, Ămilie,â she reassured me.
When Ămilie came home that evening, she seemed perfectly normal, complaining about homework. I decided not to say anything and to follow her the next day to understand what was going on.
The next morning, when I dropped her off at school, I moved the car a little farther away so she wouldnât see me when she left.
A few minutes later, she came out of the school, and I began to follow her discreetly. What I discovered left me speechless.

She stopped in front of a park and, to my great surprise, sat on a bench with a boy I didnât know.
They seemed very close, too close.
They were laughing, and she had a smile on her face I had never seen before.
It was like she was putting on a show for him, a version of herself I didnât recognize.
I realized that this boy had a bad influence on her because she was skipping school just to see him.
I approached and shouted, âĂmilie, come here right now!â
She saw me, and her smile immediately disappeared, replaced by an obvious sense of embarrassment.
She rushed toward me, her eyes full of shame, but I didnât say anything, just giving her a cold stare.
When we got home, I forbade her from seeing this boy and even her friends, and from leaving school before the end of classes, until she regained my trust.
I also confiscated her phone for a week and imposed extra chores to remind her that her actions have consequences.
