Robert De Niro, known for his many father roles in films, also flawlessly plays this role in real life.
At the age of 79, he became a father once again and now happily shares his experience. He recently talked about fatherhood and openly shared both the joys and challenges.
On the occasion of his youngest daughter Gia’s first birthday, De Niro expressed his profound joy. In a conversation with producer Jane Rosenthal, he shared the happiness Gia brings him and noted that the girl overshadows all other difficulties.
“I’m an 80-year-old father, and it’s wonderful,” De Niro said. “Everything I’m occupied with or worried about just disappears when I look at my daughter.”
Although De Niro will turn 81 in August 2024, he remains active in his work and continues with his roles. When asked about retirement and golf, he simply waved it off and admitted that he would prefer to be acting in films rather than playing golf.
In May 2023, De Niro and his partner Tiffany Chen became parents to Gia. Besides her, the actor has seven other children from previous relationships.
Talking about fatherhood, De Niro noted that fatherhood doesn’t always get easier with time and praised his partner for her support.
He emphasized the importance of teamwork and said, “I’m here, I always support my partner. But she does the main work. We often get help, which is also very important.”
As an older father, De Niro continues to find happiness in his growing family and cherishes the surprises and joys that each child brings into his life.
