😯 I thought I was doing the right thing, leaving the twins I had just saved in the house with my wife while I went to search for help. When I returned, the house was empty, my wife’s wheelchair was overturned, the girls were gone, and on the floor, a message written in blood froze me in my tracks.
Every year, I take my wife to our house in the forest, far from everything, because she loves the peace and quiet. Since an accident, she has been in a wheelchair, and being in nature does her a lot of good.

It was written: “WE KNOW.”
A cold shiver ran through me.
Someone had entered our home.
I searched the house and then found muddy footprints leading outside.
I rushed to the stream near our house, hoping to find them.
And there, on a rock, I saw them with a man who fled when he saw me.
The police took the investigation seriously, but they never found the man.
However, it left a lasting mark on us.
The security of our home was reinforced, and the twins showed signs of trauma.
Although the incident had a happy ending, it reminded me of the importance of vigilance and the protective instinct.
