😯 I was barely conscious on the operating table when I heard my husband say something that would change my life forever.
I was undergoing an emergency C-section. The nurses were shouting instructions, the doctors were moving faster than I could keep up with. My mind was foggy, and each breath became an effort.
At one point, I felt like something was wrong. Then I heard my husband’s voice.
I didn’t know how he had gotten in, since I knew the operating room was off-limits. Yet, his presence felt real, and his voice brought a sense of calm. A part of me deeply believed that as long as he was there, everything would be okay.
I expected him to ask how I was feeling or how the operation was going, but he didn’t say anything like that. The sentence he said changed my life forever.

Through the pain, I heard my husband’s words: “Is it a boy?”
It was a real shock. While my life was in danger and I was fighting to survive, he was only concerned with the gender of our child.
Then he added: “If it’s a boy, save his life first, and then think about my wife.”
The doctors had to remove him from the operating room, but that sentence kept echoing in my head.
I couldn’t believe what I had heard.
He was thinking about that when everything was still uncertain.
Luckily, everything turned out fine.
My baby was okay, and so was I.
After that, something inside me changed permanently.
How could I continue living with a man who, at a time when my life was in danger, only thought of himself and his selfish desire for a boy?
Despite everything we had shared, I could never forgive him for that indifference, that coldness in the face of the suffering I had endured.
I made the decision to leave, to rebuild my life away from him, with the certainty that I deserved better than that.
