My daughter had been saving for months to buy herself a new pair of boots. But she decided to spend all of her money on a meal for a homeless man and his dog.
She ordered a hot bowl of soup for the man and a meal for his dog. The man was deeply touched by my daughter’s kindness and asked her:
“My little one, why did you spend your money on a stranger?”
“Dad always helped people who were alone. I wanted to do the same,” she replied with a smile.
“Your father would be proud of you,” the man said before walking away.
The next morning, I looked out the window and saw six black cars parked in front of our house. A man in a black suit stepped out of one of the vehicles and walked toward our front door.
I was shocked when I realized it was the same man my daughter had helped the day before. I opened the door. He looked at my daughter and said:
“Yesterday was a test for you. I’ve been looking for you for ten years because of your father…”

The man took a deep breath and looked at my daughter with emotion.
“Your father saved my life ten years ago,” he said.

He took an old photograph out of his wallet. It showed my husband standing beside him, both smiling in front of a restaurant.
My daughter held the photo in her hands, overwhelmed with emotion as she realized that her father’s act of kindness had continued to change lives.
The man promised that he had kept his word and had protected our family just as his old friend had wished.
