😲 My husband decided to donate his kidney to the daughter of an old classmate. After his death, the girl’s mother told me: “He never told you the real reason, did he?”
One evening, my husband told me that he wanted to become a donor for a five-year-old girl. The child’s mother was an old classmate of his. No one in their family was compatible.
The operation went well, and the little girl gradually regained her health. She even sent my husband a drawing with a note that said: “Thank you for my second chance.”
Five days later, my husband became very ill. He had suffered complications and, despite the doctors’ efforts, he did not survive. He died at just 30 years old. His last words were: “Please, never blame the little girl or her mother.”
After his funeral, the girl’s mother came to my house. The little girl already seemed to be doing very well, but her mother was deeply saddened. She looked at me for a long time before whispering: “He never told you the real reason, did he?”

“Was she his daughter?” I asked.
“No. We were never together.”
She then explained that she had known my husband years earlier, on the day her brother died in an accident.
My husband had been seriously injured, and she had stayed by his side until the emergency services arrived.
She had saved his life.
“He donated his kidney because he thought he owed you something?”
“No,” she replied. “He simply wanted to give my daughter the chance to live that he himself had been given.”
Then she handed me a drawing made by her daughter.
Four people were drawn beneath a large heart, with the words:
“People help one another.”
