😯 My six-year-old son called the police simply because I wouldn’t give him ice cream before lunch. I thought the police officer would take it lightly, but what he did left me speechless.
My son has always been a little spoiled, and it’s usually because of my mother-in-law, who always defends him.
One day, he asked for ice cream, and I explained that he could have it only after lunch. He started throwing a tantrum and insisted on eating it right away, but I decided not to give in.
He called me the worst mom in the world and started crying, but I didn’t react. I simply told him that he had the right to be angry and cry, but that it wouldn’t change anything.
A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door. I opened it and saw a police officer.
“Ma’am, we received a call concerning a child at this address, and I need to make sure everything is okay.”
At that moment, my son ran out of his room shouting:
“Yes, it was me who called you. Mom won’t give me ice cream.”
I thought the police officer would laugh and leave, but what he did left me speechless.

The police officer explained to my son that calling the police over ice cream was a bad idea because police officers needed to remain available for real emergencies.
He then asked him to think about what could have happened if someone had actually needed help while they were dealing with his call.
My son lowered his head and admitted that he had been wrong.
I thought the lesson was over, but the police officer turned to me and asked me to continue setting boundaries, even when my son throws tantrums.
Before leaving, he asked my son to apologize to me.
My son walked over to me with tears in his eyes and admitted that he had been unfair.
That day, my son waited until dessert to eat his ice cream… and he even gave me a hug.
