It might seem a bit strange 🧽, but once a week, my mom puts the kitchen sponges in the freezer ❄️. The first time I saw this, I thought maybe my niece had put them there.
She’s still very little and doesn’t have the habit of putting things back in their place 😅. So, I took the sponges out of the freezer, and when my mom saw what I had done, she explained that she puts them there on purpose and revealed the reason 🤔.
I admit I was a bit surprised 😲 to learn why she does this, and I’m sharing her tip with you in the article in the first comment 👇👇👇.
So, once a week, my mom leaves the sponges in the freezer overnight.
It’s important to note that kitchen sponges are a breeding ground for bacteria, and many people are unaware of this.
According to scientists, nearly 10 million microbes can live on a single square centimeter of sponge.
In the morning, when my mom takes the sponges out, she defrosts them under hot water, and they become perfectly clean.
The unpleasant odor disappears, and the sponges remain intact.
After seeing the results, I also started using this trick.
I’ve noticed that the sponges now last much longer.
This simple method helps extend their lifespan while ensuring a more hygienic kitchen.
I highly recommend trying this tip, especially if you’re looking for an economical way to keep your sponges cleaner for longer.
