Heroic behavior: A Brazilian police officer helps a Venezuelan family by paying for all their cakes.
Rodnney Gonzales, a Venezuelan citizen, arrived in Brazil in 2018 with his wife and children, looking for better living conditions. In this country, they suffer food deprivation and expect a more pleasant life.
Their main address was Roraima, where they faced many hardships, found themselves homeless and survived by selling bakeries. They then left the city to settle in Florianópolis (SC).
Rodnney, who has a computer technician diploma, has great difficulty finding a job in his sector and therefore returns to selling cakes in the town where the family has settled. Every day he stands outside a shopping center, hoping to sell all his cakes.
The monthly budget of this family, which is based solely on the sale of cakes, reaches a little more than 1200 R$ (or approximately 215.37 EUR) per month, which is barely enough to pay the rent. They receive donations through their little ones’ school.
One Saturday, while working on the street, Rodnney had a pleasant surprise. A police officer, understanding his condition, wanted to help him. Gustavo Rangel buys all his pastries, despite his hypersensitivity to lactose.
The policeman sees the man with all his little ones in the street on this quiet and bright day. Realizing that it would take him a long time to liquidate all his products, he decided to intervene so that Rodnney could return home early with his children and enjoy a little respite.
A witness to the scene relayed the police officer’s gesture on social platforms, where the post became very popular. Mr. Rodnney said Gustavo was a great person and that there are individuals who have “strong hearts.”
The police officer, whose gesture is marked by kindness, assures that he deserves neither recognition nor retribution for his gesture.
Gustavo’s beautiful gift changed an entire family’s day.
