😯 A group of young people were mocking an old man in a wheelchair, without realizing what would happen next.
Yesterday, while I was walking home from school, I saw an elderly man struggling to move in his wheelchair. He seemed lost. I had never seen him before, but what struck me was that he was completely alone.
Suddenly, a group of young people appeared. At first, I thought they knew him, but that wasn’t the case. One of the boys approached and took his hat, another started hitting the wheelchair while laughing.
They were making fun of him, and the old man, who seemed very fragile, said nothing. He just kept staring ahead.
What shocked me the most was that no one around intervened. Passersby kept walking by as if it was completely normal. Some paused for a moment to watch the scene before continuing on their way.
I wanted to do something, to tell them to stop, but I realized I was just a 14-year-old boy facing a group of teenagers much bigger and stronger than me. I was scared, but I couldn’t just stand there, indifferent, like the others.

At the corner of the street, a man was watching them.
He had been observing the scene for several minutes before he approached.
He asked the young people to stop.
They turned pale when they saw him, because, as I later understood, he was the headmaster of their school.
When he asked them if they found it funny, no one responded.
He made it clear that such behavior was intolerable and that they would be expelled from school for their attitude.
