At 80 years old, this grandfather from Texas has literally transformed a small tractor into a picturesque train to walk stray dogs and attract potential adoptive families. What a charming gesture!
How to help homeless dogs find a loving home? Eugene Bostick had a brilliant idea. For more than 15 years now, this retiree has been dedicated to improving the situation of stray dogs and helping them find a warm family.
After caring for them, he thought of an ingenious way to facilitate the adoption process. That’s when his famous idea took root in his mind. His touching story has traveled around the world.
Eugene Bostick, an 80-year-old retiree, and his brother Corky opened their farm to stray dogs, welcoming them into an improvised shelter. “We started by providing them with food and veterinary care.
We even set up a shelter for them…”, explains Eugene. His initiative has brought together his love for animals and his desire to make a significant contribution to his community, while finding practical solutions to a problem he deeply cared about.
“We live on a remote street, where my brother and I have our stable. Unfortunately, some people come here and leave their dogs to die of hunger. So, we decided to take matters into our own hands: we feed them, care for them, and give them a home,” he continues.
Initially, they took the dogs for walks on a tractor, but soon there were so many that it was no longer sufficient. That’s when they had a brilliant idea: transform reclaimed barrels into wagons, assemble them, and add wheels to create a one-of-a-kind train.
Considered by some as the coolest train in the world, it aims to take all these dogs around the city to attract the attention of passersby and neighbors with their joyful barks in the streets. The goal: to have them adopted by families looking for loyal little companions.
And the idea has been incredibly successful!
