😲 “I committed a serious crime, but I don’t want to go to prison,” said a three-year-old girl as she walked into the police station: what she revealed left the officers speechless, not knowing how to react.
Late in the afternoon, a little girl entered the police station with her parents. The father seemed embarrassed as he said: “I’m sorry to bother you, but she has insisted for several days on speaking to the police.”
One of the officers approached the little girl, who was about three years old. He knelt down in front of her and gently asked: “Can I help you?”
“Are you a real police officer?” the little girl asked.
“Yes, here is my badge.”
After a moment of silence, the little girl began to cry, repeating: “I committed a serious crime. Are you going to take me to prison?”
The officer tried to calm her down, saying: “Tell me what happened, and then we’ll see what we can do for you.”
“If I tell you, will you take me to prison?” she asked in tears.
“No, little one, there is no prison for children your age,” the officer reassured her.
So the little girl wiped her tears and began to speak. What she said left the entire police station speechless, unsure how to react.

After a long moment of silence, she finally confessed in tears: “My fish… it’s gone…”
Her voice trembling, she explained that she had tried to pick it up and it fell into the toilet.
Panicking, she flushed it, thinking she had made a terrible mistake.
Since then, she had been living in fear of being punished.
The lieutenant listened calmly and kindly, without judging her.
He gently explained that she hadn’t done anything wrong, just made a child’s mistake.
No one was angry with her, and the most important thing was that she had the courage to tell the truth.
Relieved by these words, the little girl hugged her stuffed toy and went home with a light heart, convinced that she was not, after all, a “criminal.”
