A terrifying simulation describes what could happen to a person’s body in space without a spacesuit

Obviously, your prospects of survival are nil.

A YouTube clip developed by DG Eye Science illustrates the terrifying details of what would happen if you were accidentally knocked out of your space suit, while floating in space.

Many of us will never be able to relate to this situation, but it’s quite intriguing because it’s not what you might think.

According to the video, surprisingly, you probably wouldn’t “explode,” a concept more commonly seen in movies.

Watching the cartoon’s head explode is definitely the creepiest part of the simulation video.

Rather, the gases in your body will “begin to expand” and the air in your lungs will “cause the lung tissue to rupture” in the first few seconds.

Within five seconds, “the water on the surface of your eyes, skin and mouth” will begin to evaporate and the water in your blood will begin to boil.

The simulation then depicts the body inflating and expanding, almost like a large human balloon, as the skin is “elastic and strong enough to withstand the pressure.”

After you lose consciousness, your heart eventually slows and stops before you “choke to death,” with the corpse turning gray in the video.

According to Popular Science, an astronaut exposed to the vacuum of space would see his blood, as well as the water in his body, vaporize in just 10 seconds.

They would lose consciousness in 15 seconds, when their body would expand and their lungs would collapse.

In 30 seconds, the unfortunate astronaut would be paralyzed, or more likely dead, from suffocation or decompression.

Surprisingly, the close-ups illustrate how quickly death would come for the unfortunate victim, as not much of the animation remains after a few seconds.
