A fifteen-year-old boy is hailed as a hero for lifting a van that had fallen on his father’s chest.
Matthew Wilkeenson’s work truck needed immediate repairs, and luckily, his child had gone to the garage and agreed to help his dad.
While attempting to remove the rotor, Mr. Wilkeenson discovered it was stuck and needed a certain angle to leverage it, so he crawled under the truck with his body.
“As soon as he jumped, the truck started drifting,” he told KCRA. “My only concern was the lack of breath. I was just stuck. Couldn’t talk, couldn’t scream.”
Dallin Wilkeenson, a freshman in high school, told the press that he was completely caught off guard.
“He was making a weird movement, like his body was leaving his soul.”
The boy tries to lift the vehicle just enough to free him, and the adrenaline of the moment helps him succeed.
While dad was at the hospital being treated for a punctured lung and broken ribs, he couldn’t understand how he managed to escape until he later checked the home security camera footage.
The home surveillance captured the moment when Dallin lifted the van to allow his father to get out.
“My son is my hero. I owe him my life.”
