Decades of married life are the subject of many anecdotes and ironic stories. Here’s one of them. A man told his wife, whom he had been married to for thirty-six years, that she was too old. And he got an excellent response.
Spouse’s Remark
So, the hero of our story made the following remark to his wife: “My dear, over thirty-six years ago, we had a tiny apartment, an old car, a small bed, and a very old television, but I was sleeping with a beautiful twenty-five-year-old blonde.
Today, we have a 500,000-euro house, a 45,000-euro Mercedes, a double bed, and a color television. But I’m sleeping with a sixty-year-old.”
To this remark, his wife calmly responded: “You just need to find a beautiful twenty-five-year-old blonde, and I will make sure you end up with her in a tiny apartment with an old car and sleep on the couch in front of a black-and-white television.”
Her response marks her as a wise woman. Not all ladies would be able to respond so clearly and elegantly. And a disrespectful husband will think long and hard about how to behave in the future with his mistress.
On the other hand, he might end up back where he started. However, it is unlikely that the young beauty would be ready for a long-term relationship with a 60-year-old partner. Unless, of course, he’s Richard Gere.
