😲 I married my best friend’s wealthy father for his money, but on our wedding night, he looked me in the eyes and whispered, “Now that you’re officially my wife, there’s something you need to know.”
I agreed to marry Arthur, an extremely wealthy man, hoping to finally escape my financial struggles. But that decision cost me my best friend, Chloe, who accused me of marrying her father solely for his inheritance.
Despite her accusations, I didn’t call off the wedding. I became Arthur’s wife in an elegant ceremony surrounded by his family, none of whom seemed to genuinely like me.
On our wedding night, while I was in our bedroom, Arthur walked in. He went over to an old mahogany desk, then moved a painting behind which a small safe was hidden.
He took out a thick leather folder before turning to face me.
“Hannah, now that you’re my wife, I can finally tell you the truth.”
Then, in a deep voice, he added that what he was about to reveal would change everything I thought I knew about his family, his fortune, and the real reasons behind our marriage…

Arthur revealed to me that the Sterling family’s fortune was largely an illusion.
The family businesses had accumulated enormous debts because of poor investments and disastrous financial decisions.
Some members of his family had also made suspicious money transfers through questionable companies and offshore accounts.
Then Arthur confessed that he was seriously ill and that his doctors had given him only about six months to live.
He explained that he had hidden the truth from me before our wedding because he was afraid I would leave him.
That was when I realized that the fortune I had hoped to inherit didn’t really exist.
However, Arthur offered me a 50% stake in his estate to help secure a more stable future for me, subject to the necessary legal formalities.
