In Nigeria, a couple aged 68 and 70 have given birth to twins.
The father of the babies explained to the media that it took them 46 years to achieve a successful outcome.
They had undergone three unsuccessful attempts at in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Their fourth attempt was successful. Despite her age, the Nigerian woman not only managed to give birth to the babies but also carried them to 37 weeks of pregnancy.
Obviously, the 68-year-old mother did not give birth naturally. A cesarean section was performed by the doctors.
To the surprise of the doctors, the mother was in good health, and the babies were born healthy and strong.
The woman gave birth at a hospital in Lagos, where she was under the care of specialists throughout the pregnancy due to her age.
The father was satisfied. He stated that he had been dreaming of this moment his whole life.
Doctors emphasize that through in vitro fertilization, women can become pregnant at any age, but it is not recommended after the age of 50.
Late pregnancy can actually lead to serious complications for both the pregnant woman and the unborn baby.
