An albino baby elephant that was trapped in a snare for days is so happy to finally be safe

A defenseless baby elephant was rescued after being trapped for four days. The poor little creature was found entangled not far from Kruger National Park in South Africa.

Unfortunately, the trap left deep wounds on the face and ears of the elephant calf, but according to its rescuers, she will fully recover.

Fortunately, the little one was found just in time by volunteers from the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, an elephant orphanage.

The baby elephant, whom the rescuers named Khanyisa, is very special. The pigmentation of her skin is not gray like any other elephant but pink.

“She looked so innocent, fragile, and pure, yet so courageous – a unique beauty that had been [harmed] by the hands of man,” said Sue Howells at the elephant orphanage.

“We knew we had to help her, protect her, and give her a safe place that she would never have to endure (something like that) again.”

Photos of the rescued elephant show how happy she is to finally be safe.

And despite all she had to go through, Khanyisa proved she was such a brave spirit.

“Khanyisa is an exceptionally strong and courageous little elephant,” said Sue Howells.
