Sandy Hazelip (a doctor) and Ellie Hamby (a documentary photographer), both 81-year-old best friends, inspired by the novel ‘Around the World in Eighty Days,’ have embarked on a journey around the globe.
Brave and enterprising, these modern-day ‘Thelma and Louise’ have already visited eighteen countries and show no signs of stopping there. Their goal? To explore as many countries as possible and fully enjoy life.

Conquering the world knows no age limit
The unusual story of Sandy and Ellie has captured the interest of many due to their incredible energy and desire to see more. ‘Throughout these years, we have traveled to numerous countries and experienced many adventures together.
Our trips have never been organized by a travel agency. We have not stayed in luxurious hotels or dined on refined dishes. At 81, we are aware of what truly matters,’ they emphasize.
For them, age has never been a barrier. They simply chose not to sit still and to fully embrace life.
