đŠ My 5-year-old daughter wanted to invite the man who came to our house when I was at work to her birthday party: I pretended to go on a business trip, and when I came back home, I was left frozen upon discovering who it was.
My daughter loves her birthday, and every year, a month before, she starts talking about her party. This year was no different.
One day, we were alone in the house when she started talking about the people she wanted to invite to her birthday. She looked at me with her big eyes and said:
– Dad, can I also invite that kind man?
– What man, sweetheart?
– The man who comes to our house when youâre not home. Heâs very kind, because every time he brings me chocolates. But you know, Mom tells me that if I donât tell you anything, sheâll buy me even more chocolate. Donât tell her I told you, okay? Otherwise, I wonât get any more chocolates.
It was a huge shock for me. I never imagined that my wife could be cheating on me. So I decided to find out everything, and I told my daughter:
– Okay, sweetheart, we can invite him. But for that, you need to tell Mom that I wonât be home during the party and that she can invite that man. Iâll come a bit later, but it will be our secret. Mom must not know, alright?
I told my wife that I had to leave for a two-day business trip, and on the day of the birthday, I left the house very early.
In the evening, I came back through the back door and froze when I saw who the man was.
The full story is in the article in the first comment đđđ.
Entering through the back door, I was expecting anything⊠except him.
Adam, my best friend of over ten years.
The one who had been my best man at my wedding.
The one my daughter proudly called âUncle Adam.â
He was standing in my living room like he belonged there, a forced smile on his face, holding a gift box for my daughter.
Everything collapsed in an instant.
âHow long has this been going on?â I asked in a cold voice.
No one answered.
Adam tried to speak, but I stopped him with a gesture.
I slowly walked over, then picked up my daughter in my arms.
âWeâre leaving, sweetheart.â
And without another word, I walked out, leaving behind two people I no longer recognized.
