😲 For six days, an unknown pit bull accompanied me to the parking lot and waited for me in front of my door in the evening : on the seventh day, two police officers came to my home, and it turned out that this dog was protecting me from a danger I hadn’t even noticed.
One morning, as I was getting ready for work, I noticed a dog in front of my door. It wasn’t a stray dog—it was a pit bull, and at first, I thought it was simply lost and looking for its home.
It stood still in front of the door, looking inside. It didn’t have a collar, which made it difficult to find its owner. All I could do was ask the neighbors, but no one knew this dog.
I gave it some water and a little bread, but since I was running late for work, I left it in my yard and went on my way. When I returned, it was still there, motionless, as if waiting for something.
The next day, it followed me at a distance to the parking lot. And so, for six days, it accompanied me in the morning and waited for me in the evening in my yard.
I even considered keeping it if its owner couldn’t be found, and I gave it a name: Rex.
On the seventh day, a police car stopped in front of my door. Two officers got out and came toward me. Rex then ran and positioned himself between them and me.
It turned out that this dog hadn’t come by chance. In reality, he wanted to protect me from a danger I hadn’t perceived.

One of the officers then explained why they had come.
For several days, the neighborhood had been facing a series of burglaries.
Always the same method: homes were targeted early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when residents were leaving for work or hadn’t returned yet.
Several neighbors had reported a dark car that was lurking around the building, often parked for no apparent reason.
Looking at Rex, the officer added that he perfectly matched the description of a dog seen near some of the monitored locations.
It all became clear to me: Rex was not lost.
He had simply detected a danger that I had never noticed.
He followed me and stayed near me to protect me, as if he had chosen to keep me safe.
