To take off, paragliders have to accelerate from a slope, or even use a mechanical winch. One of the masters recently invented a new method – he learned to fly into the sky like a bird. In the video, the paraglider takes off from a flat surface, which was considered completely impossible.
Taking two steps forward, the paraglider immediately caught the rising wind and gained the first altitude. Here he began to act unconventionally, simultaneously and sharply tightening both side lines.
As a result, the edges of the paraglider began to flap like bird wings. With each movement the man rose higher, already in precise control of the situation.
It is unclear whether such a takeoff would be possible under other conditions. The terrain clearly helps at this point: the wind of the alpine valley, blowing through a noticeable lake nearby, is deflected at the end of the reservoir with a wall upward.
This creates thrust, which is what the paraglider uses:
But in any case, no one has repeated this trick yet. Perhaps the discoverer was caught on video.
