I was in a store near my house when two children, a boy and a girl, entered. They looked at me, then asked my name and mentioned my son’s name.
When I asked them why they were looking for me and my son, the boy explained that they were my grandchildren. Arseniy, the boy, was carrying his sister because she started crying.
As soon as I looked at the girl, I immediately realized that she was my son’s daughter. She looked so much like him.
The boy remembered the way and recognized my apartment, which is how they found me. He was only six years old at the time. While I was putting the girl down, Arseniy told me everything.
The next morning, I picked up the children, and we went to the social services office. You should have seen my ex-daughter-in-law’s face when she saw me, especially with the kids.
She immediately started screaming, asking what we were doing there. When I him I asked if she was happy to see her children again, she replied that I could take them with me because she didn’t want them.
I immediately took the children and told my son everything. He was living in Germany at the time.
That evening he answered me, and within two days he was there. We organized all the necessary paperwork and took the children to live with us.
My ex-daughter-in-law voluntarily signed all the documents and handed over the children’s belongings. I enrolled my grandson in school and my granddaughter in a nearby daycare.
My son thanked me for not abandoning the children, which I couldn’t have done anyway due to the circumstances.
Now the four of us live together, and the children are happy, well-fed and well-cared for. I am also happy because I had been looking forward to seeing my grandchildren for a long time, but circumstances had prevented it until now.
