😦 I married a very kind man, but on our wedding night, he said to me: “You need to know everything, I don’t want to hide anything from you anymore.”
The first time I got married was at 18, and it was an arranged marriage by my parents. However, over time, I grew to love my husband very much. We were a very happy couple and lived together for 42 years.
Five years ago, my husband had a serious car accident. The other driver was drunk and, instead of helping him, he fled the scene. I was devastated.
The only person who helped me cope with my grief was my neighbor. He was very attentive and kind to me. We grew closer, and I didn’t even realize when I fell in love with him.
When he offered me a ring and asked me to marry him, I couldn’t say no. I never imagined remarrying at 65, but that’s what I did.
My children didn’t judge me; on the contrary, they supported me in this decision. We had a small, discreet wedding, just with family, and everything went well.
But on our wedding night, once we were in our room, he whispered to me, not looking me in the eye: “I have to tell you something. You need to know everything. I don’t want to hide anything from you anymore.”
What he told me left me speechless.

He looked at me for a long time, visibly uncomfortable, and continued in a trembling voice: “A few days after the accident, a friend of mine told me about an accident.
He told me he was drunk and acted without thinking.
As I listened, I realized that the accident he was talking about was the one involving your husband.
I found out he died because of my friend.
I never told you this because I thought it wouldn’t change anything, that there was no point in reopening your pain.
But today, starting a new life with you, I couldn’t live with this secret between us anymore.”
I was left speechless, a mixture of emotions overwhelming me.
After a long silence, I finally whispered: “It wasn’t your fault… I forgive you.”
