😯 In a restaurant, a little girl approached me and whispered something that deeply moved me.
It was our tenth wedding anniversary, and we had decided to celebrate it at a restaurant. I chose the same place where we had our first date, hoping to relive those romantic moments.
I had bought a beautiful necklace that my wife had once noticed in a shop window, and I was planning to give it to her at the end of the evening.
We were having a lovely time, reminiscing about the years we had spent together, and then we danced to our favorite song.
My wife stepped out for a few minutes to refresh her makeup, and it was then that a little girl approached our table.
I thought she was just coming over to say hello, as children often do, but she had something to say.
I tried to understand what she wanted, and eventually, she whispered a few words.
What I heard deeply moved me.

She told me, her voice trembling, that she had seen my wife earlier putting something in my glass while I was on the phone.
I took a deep breath, my eyes fixed on my wife as she was returning to our table.
Looking her straight in the eye, I asked in a calm but firm voice: “What did you put in my glass earlier?”
She froze, her eyes avoiding mine.
“I… I just wanted to make you forget… the doubts, the difficult years. I put a little tranquilizer in it, so you would be more… calm, more present.”
I felt a wave of relief because, in reality, she didn’t want to poison me, she just wanted to ease my invisible pain.
