With the primary goal of promoting body positivity and the liberation of the female body, Jessy Rodriguez decided to participate in the Miss Costa Rica pageant. She chose to display her non-classical beauty and fight against fatphobia by using her “non-standard” body.
On her social media accounts, she tells her followers that the human body, regardless of its shape or size, can be highlighted in a pleasing way. In her posts, she also expresses her firm belief that diversity is what makes the world beautiful and that everyone should embrace it.
Jessy even hopes to be selected to represent Miss Universe. In fact, this competition has established new rules that allow a larger number of candidates to participate. Since 2023, Miss Universe accepts applications from pregnant women, mothers, separated and married women aged eighteen to twenty-eight.
