😔 “Papa… my back hurts so much, I can’t sleep, but mom told me I wasn’t allowed to tell you”: that’s what my 8-year-old daughter told me, and when I found out what was going on, my heart broke.
I had just returned from a long business trip. I had missed my daughter terribly, but when I wanted to go see her, my wife told me she was already asleep.
So, I decided not to disturb her, but a few hours later, I heard murmurs coming from her room. I went to check.
When she saw me, she started crying even harder. I tried to calm her down: “Daddy is here, sweetie. What’s wrong? Does something hurt?”
“My back… it hurts so much I can’t sleep…”
When I tried to take her in my arms, she pulled away, screaming, “No, don’t touch me, it hurts!”
Then, she added: “Mom told me I wasn’t allowed to tell you.”
I froze, not understanding what was happening in my own house. And when I discovered the truth, my heart shattered.

Yesterday, I spilled juice on the couch.
Mom said I did it on purpose and shoved me into the closet.
It hurt my back so much, I couldn’t breathe.
I looked at her back and legs and saw blue marks all over.
“Sweetheart, who did this to you?” I asked, my voice trembling.
She lowered her eyes, hesitating. “It… it was mom…”
I took her in my arms, promising her that she was finally safe.
Then I called the police, explaining the situation in detail.
The police took my wife for questioning.
The months that followed were a real battle for custody of my daughter, and in the end, I won.
