😯 “Look at what losers look like! You have to work hard so you don’t become like him,” a man said to his son while pointing at me, without imagining that a few hours later he would be standing in front of me apologizing.
I work as a welder to earn a living and take care of my family. Sometimes, after a long day of work, I go home still wearing my work clothes.
One evening, before going home, I stopped by a supermarket. Despite washing, my hands were still stained with grease and metal, and my clothes smelled of smoke.
I was in the aisles of the supermarket when I heard a man speaking about me to his teenage son:
– Look at him. That’s what men look like who don’t take school seriously. Do you want to end up like him?
– No, Dad.
– Then you have to work hard so you don’t become a failure covered in dirt.
I froze. What hurt me the most was the lesson this man was teaching his son: judging people’s worth by the cleanliness of their clothes.
At first, I wanted to explain to him that I earned my living through this job, but I chose to stay silent. At that moment, neither he nor I imagined that a few hours later he would be standing in front of me apologizing.

Suddenly, the father’s phone rang.
He became irritated: a production line in his factory had shut down and the losses could be significant.
Shortly after, I received the call: a critical pipeline had burst in a food processing plant. I understood it was related.
On site, I found the same man, shocked to see me.
I explained the problem and began the repair with precision.
The job was delicate, but the weld held.
The line restarted without any leak.
The man then apologized to me.
I left without saying anything, letting my work speak for itself.
