My daughter brought her classmate home for dinner, and when my husband saw him, he said, “No… it can’t be you”

😯 My daughter decided to bring her classmate home to our house for dinner. When my husband saw him, he shouted in surprise, “No… it can’t be you.”

My daughter is very sociable, and from time to time, she brings her classmates home to our house. One day, she came home with a little boy whom I was seeing for the first time.

—Mom, this is Alex. He hasn’t eaten anything, so I brought him home to our house for dinner.

He was wearing somewhat worn-out clothes, and I understood that he came from a poor family. I was proud that my daughter wanted to help him. I remembered that, sometimes, she asked me for extra sandwiches to take to school, and I realized that they were for Alex.

I invited Alex inside and prepared a nice dinner for them. During dinner, I noticed that he was eating slowly, as if he were afraid the food might disappear, and it broke my heart. He told me that he rarely saw his father and that, since his mother had died, he lived with his aunt.

Shortly afterward, my husband came home and, when he saw Alex, he stood frozen and whispered, “No… it can’t be you.” What he told me afterward left me speechless.

He then explained to me that he had known Alex’s mother several years earlier.

He told me that she had been his girlfriend before we met and that they had broken up after a difficult period.

He added that he had not seen her again for years and that he had later learned that she had left the city.

But what had shocked him was how much Alex resembled her.

He told me that he recognized her gaze, her smile, and even a small dimple on her cheek.

I asked him if he thought Alex could be his son.

My husband replied that he didn’t know, but that at the time of their separation, his ex-girlfriend had told him that she was expecting a child.

We decided to have a DNA test, and a few days later, the result confirmed what we had feared: Alex was indeed my husband’s son.

Devastated, my husband promised to make up for all those lost years and support Alex.

As for me, I realized that this dinner had changed all three of our lives and that Alex had finally found a family that wanted to take care of him.
