My mother-in-law always criticized my cakes, so when she asked me to make another one, she had no idea what was coming

😲 My mother-in-law called my cake business a “ridiculous little hobby” while constantly demanding free cakes for her friends. Until one day, I discovered that she was selling them for $150 each and keeping all the money. So when she ordered another cake, I agreed—but she had no idea what was waiting for her.

For the past three years, I had been making homemade cakes for a living, but my mother-in-law, Giselle, never stopped mocking my work. She kept telling me it was just a little hobby, not a real job.

Yet she certainly loved taking advantage of my talent.

It all started when she asked me to make a birthday cake for one of her friends. She wanted it for free, claiming they were family acquaintances.

Then the requests kept coming: birthdays, parties, retirement celebrations… Every time, Giselle made me feel as though I should be grateful for the so-called publicity.

I stayed quiet to avoid arguments within the family.

But last Thursday, while delivering a cake to her friend Linda, I discovered that Giselle was actually selling them for $150 each.

I was stunned. After making a few phone calls, I discovered she had been doing this for months. She was selling my cakes to her friends, pretending to manage my orders, and pocketing every dollar. Meanwhile, she continued to look down on my work.

The next day, she sent me a message:

“I need another cake for Saturday. Make it especially beautiful. I’ll pick it up on Friday.”

I agreed, but she had absolutely no idea what was coming.

I decided to teach my mother-in-law a lesson after discovering that she had been secretly reselling my cakes and keeping all the money for herself.

To make her understand that she could no longer take advantage of my kindness, I prepared a very special cake.

I covered it with white frosting and wrote an embarrassing message on top in chocolate:

“Just a little hobby.”

I also included the total amount she had collected from my work: $960.

I even wrote down the names of her customers and the amounts they had paid.

But my plan didn’t stop there.

I asked my husband to be present when she came to collect the cake.

I also invited the customers involved so they could confirm how much they had paid Giselle.

When she arrived, she saw the cake and immediately became furious.

She tried to deny everything and accused me of deliberately humiliating her.

However, Linda and Patrice confirmed in front of everyone that they had indeed paid her money.

I then presented her with a detailed invoice, showing her that I knew about all her transactions.

Caught in the trap, Giselle could no longer come up with a believable excuse.

My husband finally admitted that his mother had taken advantage of my work and that he should have supported me sooner.

Despite Giselle threatening to stop looking after my daughter, I refused to give in to her blackmail.

I decided to use my savings to pay for childcare and regain my professional independence.
