😦 My mother-in-law demanded that my husband carry her in his arms as we left the church, and what my father did next left everyone speechless.
My mother-in-law is the type of woman who loves being the center of attention. I was used to it, but I never imagined she would make my wedding her biggest show.
Throughout the ceremony, she kept interrupting the photographer to ask him to take pictures of her too. But that wasn’t even the worst part.
After exchanging our vows, as we were leaving the church, my husband moved toward me to carry me down the steps. It was at that moment that my mother-in-law rushed over to us.
She grabbed his hand and said:
“My darling, I’ve never had a real wedding ceremony…”
“Not now, Mom…” my husband replied.
“Wait! I carried you for nine months and cared for you every night. Let me feel this, just once.”
My husband looked at me, clearly embarrassed, then said:
“Sorry, honey. I’ll carry you later, okay?”
Before I could even respond, he lifted his mother into his arms and carried her down the church steps. I was left standing behind them, humiliated, on what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life.
A few moments later, my father approached me, and what he did left everyone speechless.
The rest of the story is in the article linked in the first comment 👇👇👇.
My father approached, his face stern, and said:
“Your husband chose his mother on the most important day of his life… and it will be that way for the rest of your life… are you sure about your choice?”
I nodded to show him I agreed.
Without another word, he took me in his arms, carried me down the steps, and led me to his car.
He turned to the guests and announced firmly: “The wedding is canceled.”
My husband, red with anger and shame, tried to follow, but it was already too late.
That day, I realized that the respect and support of my family were worth more than any spectacle imposed by others.
