😯 My neighbor told me that one day she had seen my daughter at home during school hours: So, the next day, I pretended to leave for work, but I hid in my daughter’s room, and what I discovered left me speechless.
After my divorce, I live with my thirteen-year-old daughter in a small town. She is very intelligent, and I’ve never had any problems with her, whether at home or school. She has always been honest with me, and there were never any secrets between us.
At least, not until the day one of my neighbors said to me: “I don’t want to alarm you, but I saw your daughter at home during school hours.”
“You must be mistaken,” I replied confidently.
She insisted, “At first, I also thought it was a thief, because you’re at work and your daughter should be at school at those hours. But as I paid more attention, I noticed it was really her, and it happened several times. Sometimes, she wasn’t even alone.”
I was shocked by what I was hearing, but, upon reflection, I had noticed recently that my daughter was sometimes quieter, more nervous. I thought it was just due to the stress of adolescence.
That same evening, I decided to talk to her about it. But she denied everything, claiming she was always at school during those hours. She looked me straight in the eyes, full of certainty.
The next morning, when I dropped her off at school, I didn’t go to work. I went back home and hid in her room to find out what was going on. What I discovered left me speechless.

Hiding in my daughter’s room, I heard the front door open quietly.
A few seconds later, my daughter came in with two boys.
They quickly made their way to the video game console.
I watched them silently, my heart heavy, as they sat down around the screen.
They were skipping school, enjoying their freedom.
I immediately came out of my hiding place and confronted my daughter and the boys.
We had a very serious and stern discussion, and I think they understood me well.
In any case, I don’t know about the other boys, but my daughter never did anything like that again.
