A farmer from a small Swiss village was faced with an unusual problem: he wanted to build a new house on the site of an old, almost destroyed barn, but local authorities did not give permission to demolish it.
They considered the barn a valuable piece of local history. At first glance, the situation seemed deadlocked. However, the farmer did not give up and came up with a unique solution: to build his new house right inside the old barn. It was a bold idea, and local officials could no longer intervene.
The barn served the farming family as a storage area for their crops for over a century, including a cow shed and hay storage. Over time, the laws changed, the farmer built a new barn, and the old building stood idle for many years.
When the farmer planned to demolish it to build a new house, the authorities did not give permission, arguing that the barn added historical character to the surrounding landscape.
So the barn stood idle until the farmer came up with a way to get around the ban. If they won’t allow you to demolish the barn, why not turn it into part of a new home?
After carefully studying the structure of the barn, the architects developed a plan and began implementing it. The authorities agreed to the construction, but on the condition that the appearance of the barn remain unchanged. Thus, they had to almost completely rebuild the inside of the building.
New internal walls were erected, which now became the external walls of the house. There was enough space to arrange several floors and cozy rooms.
The interior of the house does not at all recall its past as a barn.

From the outside, even upon closer inspection, it is impossible to guess that there is a modern house inside the barn. Local officials had no choice but to approve this unusual project.
