Once, 4-year-old Mason Ochea was playing at home when he noticed his little brother, who had fallen into the pool.
Any child his age would have cried or called for help, but the boy ran into the yard and managed to pull his brother out of the water.
That’s when the boys’ father came and called an ambulance. The brother had lost consciousness.
When rescuers arrived after checking on the boy, they said his life was not in danger and that if he had come out of the water a few minutes later it would have been hopeless.
Mason is a true hero, when the rescuers learned that it was he who had saved his brother, they offered to take his father to their HQ for little lessons.
The boy was welcomed there very warmly, they taught him several things: how to make a bandage, what tools are available, etc.
Mason received a lifeguard uniform as a gift and head lifeguard John Van Gieson presented him with an award and the boy became the youngest lifeguard in town.
Fortunately, the boy’s younger brother recovered quickly and this incident forced everyone to have a fence around their pools.
Mason learned to swim and climb walls since childhood in order to become a lifeguard.
