So far, interracial marriages in post-Soviet countries are surprising. But the story of Ruth from Nigeria and Dmitry from Yakutia, as well as their baby, turned out to be particularly impressive.
Dmitry Makrygin and Ruth Tette met not in their home country, but in St. Petersburg.
A young man came to the northern capital to take beautiful photos and just saw a girl on the street somewhere in the Petrogradsky district and offered to take a photo.
On the contrary, she said goodbye to the city and did not get acquainted: in St. Petersburg, Ruth received a higher economic education and was going to leave for her homeland.
But the romance that immediately began, which grew into a strong marriage, changed all plans. Instead of Nigeria, Ruth Tette took tickets to distant snowy Yakutsk.
Now the family lives in a small apartment in the capital of Sakha. The marriage took place in 2018, after several years of a long-distance relationship and doubts about the possibility of reuniting in their husband’s homeland.
Last year there was a replenishment in the family: Ruth, as her husband Rusya calls her, gave birth to a son.
The boy’s name was Yaroslav. All family friends, and even the young parents themselves, wondered for a long time what the child would be like.
It is still difficult to decide: nature awarded Yaroslav Makrygin with light skin, just like his father, large dark eyes and fluffy African curls.
Ruth puts it this way: “Again, the curls are not as tight as mine, but rather soft, again a mix. So apparently, sometimes he looks at me through my eyes, sometimes I see his father’s look clearly.
New photos of Yaroslav appear on his mother’s blog. More than 10,000 people have signed up to Ruth’s account. All because in their new home, in Yakutsk, the couple is quite famous.
They have been following her fate for a long time, everyone is wondering whether Rusya will leave for her homeland. But she laughs: love warms you even in the cold of Yakutia.
