In many cases, disability becomes a barrier to inclusion and affection, but for this woman of short stature, measuring 1.05 meters (3’5″), it is not an obstacle to love.
“I realized it was love when he accepted my disability even before meeting me in person,” she says about her fiancé, whom she met through a dating app.
The fiancé, measuring 1.76 meters (5’9″), and she, just over a meter tall, found each other and, despite prejudices, they live immense happiness. Their story proves that love overcomes all differences.
They say that they have always supported each other, especially during the pandemic lockdown. “We don’t argue; we are more united than ever.”
When love arrives and fills our daily lives, it’s magnificent. João Paulo, from their first exchanges on the app, showed great care and respect for her physical disability.
“Can you walk straight? Can I push your wheelchair?” These simple yet essential questions revealed his caring nature.
“On the app and my social media, I have photos that clearly show my height. I have never hidden my disability; I have always felt confident. If he wanted to be with me, he had to accept reality as it is.
That’s how we started talking, and I knew he wasn’t intrusive. He wanted to know everything so that our relationship could evolve,” she confides to Diário do Nordeste.
The young woman, Livinha, has a rare syndrome, spondylo-metaphyseal dysplasia with ligamentous laxity, but she has never let her disability limit her. Her determination and courage in life have won over João Paulo, and their love shines through in every daily gesture.
