An elderly couple, simply dressed, walked into a restaurant. The husband was wearing an old, slightly worn jacket, and his wife was wearing a modest dress. It looked as though they had been saving for several months to afford this dinner.
The manager quickly noticed them and approached with a contemptuous look.
“I’m sorry, but our establishment has certain dress-code rules. Perhaps you should go somewhere more suited to your attire.”
The couple remained silent, visibly humiliated. The woman lowered her eyes, while her husband tried to remain calm.
The manager insisted and asked them to leave. Several customers watched the scene, uncomfortable with his behavior.
The couple was about to walk out when something unexpected happened.

The couple was just about to walk through the door when the restaurant owner suddenly walked in.
He asked them to stop and immediately approached the elderly man.
He asked whether they recognized him.
The old man studied his face for a few seconds before realizing that it was Thomas, a young man he had helped thirty years earlier.
