Olivia picked up her torn shirt and turned around. The black emblem tattooed between her shoulder blades depicted an eagle with outstretched wings, the symbol of a secret military unit responsible for the most sensitive investigations.
She was not an ordinary soldier.
She was Lieutenant Colonel Olivia Moreau, director of a special military intelligence unit. She had been sent undercover to discover who was diverting shipments intended for the army.
Her identity did not appear in any records accessible to ordinary officers. Only a handful of senior officials knew her true role.
Olivia stared at Pierce.
“You’ve spent four days humiliating recruits, Sergeant. Meanwhile, I’ve discovered that someone has been falsifying delivery records.”

The colonel signaled to the two military security personnel.
Harlan suddenly stepped backward, but the doors were already locked.
Pierce, trembling, lowered his eyes.

Olivia stepped closer to him.
“That was your mistake. You thought respect depended on the rank displayed on someone’s shoulder.”
