Nancy lives in Lima, Peru, and life has never been easy for her. Growing up in poverty drives you to fight even harder. She works during the day to provide for her family, but that’s not all.
When night falls, while most people slip under their blankets, Nancy picks up her broom and starts her second shift. Why? Because she wants her daughter, her pride, to have a better future.
In a Facebook post, page recounted how they encountered Nancy as she was about to take a well-deserved break. Her “smile from another reality” captivated them, and they wanted to learn more about this woman who worked tirelessly.
Nancy explained why she did all this. She said: “I sweep the street because I have to look after my babies, I do it with love for my children. My daughter has just one year left before she finishes university.
She is studying administration. She is smart, hardworking, and full of ambition. I still have 20 more streets to sweep before I finish my day, but when I think of my daughter, nothing can stop me.”
For Nancy, this night work is not a sacrifice; it’s a testament to her love, a way to show her children that she is ready to do anything for them. She doesn’t see the exhaustion; she sees the opportunity to offer them a future she may never have had.
