A father gave his answer in a video shared on TikTok when asked if he was “babysitting” his own daughter.
The woman who asked him was startled by his answer, but it sparked a broader discussion about the role of fathers in their children’s lives and the importance of recognizing that parenting is a shared duty.

In a video posted to TikTok, a father opened up about his response when asked if he was “babysitting” his child.
In the sequence, he explains that his wife, Brandy, has decided to return to work and that it is therefore only Viola, their first child, and him.
The TikTok user, whose real name is Kevin Clevenger, reported an encounter with a woman at the grocery store, who approached him and said:
“Oh, did you give mom a break today? Is dad babysitting?”
In response, and to emphasize that taking care of his own child was not “babysitting” but education, he bluntly told the woman that his daughter’s mother had died in childbirth and that so there was only him and the child left.
“The woman’s face turned white as a ghost,” said father.
