When I got pregnant for the second time, my son was only two years old. What worried me the most was how he would react, as he was still very young, and I feared he might become jealous of his sister’s arrival.
Throughout my pregnancy, I kept telling him that he was going to have a little sister and that he wouldn’t be the only child in the house anymore.
One day, when I was already in my eighth month of pregnancy and my belly was quite noticeable, we were sitting on the couch, chatting. Suddenly, he looked at my belly, pointed his finger, and asked, “Mom, is there a balloon in there?”
I tried to explain to him that it wasn’t a balloon but his little sister. He looked me straight in the eyes, then said something that made me burst out laughing.

After hearing my response, he looked at me for a moment, a little lost, before saying, “Please, mama, don’t eat me too… I’m not delicious!”
I burst out laughing, both touched by his innocence and a bit surprised by his reaction.
At that age, he was starting to understand the world around him, but some things were still unclear.
To reassure him, I had to explain that not only was I not going to eat his sister, but I had never eaten anyone, especially not him!
