“Your husband made me promise to give this to you after his death,” the doctor said to me as he handed me an envelope

😦 My husband had decided to become an organ donor, but after his death, his doctor told me: “Your husband made me promise not to give this to you until after his death.”

After three years of marriage, I finally became pregnant. It was the happiest news of our lives. For six months, Marc and I experienced wonderful moments together, and we were happier than ever.

Then, one day, the doctors told us that Marc was suffering from a very serious illness and had only three months left to live. After this terrible news, Marc decided to become an organ donor.

From time to time, he would secretly go to the doctor. Whenever I asked him what was going on, he would simply tell me that he was preparing something for me, but that it wasn’t yet the right time to tell me about it.

His condition worsened day by day, and a few weeks later, Marc passed away.

As he had wished, his organs were donated after his death. A few days later, while I was at the hospital, his doctor asked me to speak with him privately.

He handed me an envelope with my name on it and said:

— Your husband made me promise to give you this envelope only after his death.

“Your husband made me promise to give this to you after his death,” the doctor said to me as he handed me an envelope

Shaking, I opened the envelope.

Inside, there was a letter and a small key.

“If you are reading these words, it means I am no longer here. Forgive me for hiding certain things from you.

I knew my time was running out, and I wanted to leave behind something that would protect you and our child.

This key opens a safe-deposit box at the bank. I deposited all my savings there, but most importantly, I left a letter intended for our baby.

“Your husband made me promise to give this to you after his death,” the doctor said to me as he handed me an envelope

I want you to give it to them when they are old enough to understand.

I did not choose to become a donor solely to save lives.

I met several families whose loved ones had received transplants.

Their gratitude made me realize that a part of me could continue living somewhere else.

But there is one last thing: the doctor promised me that he would tell you that one of my organs saved the life of a young man.

I will never know his name… but perhaps one day, you will meet.”
