The YouTuber Inoxtag has organized an ecological challenge in 13 locations across France, setting a new record: collecting the largest possible number of cigarette butts.
Together with other social media influencers, followers, and organizations, their goal was to surpass the previous record of 855,000 cigarette butts.
And they have achieved it, as a total of 1,025,000 cigarette butts were collected throughout France, all within 3 hours!
Every year, approximately forty billion cigarettes are littered on the ground.
These concerning statistics motivated the YouTuber to undertake this project.
Through his video, Inoxtag and his colleagues highlight the environmental impact of cigarette pollution, among other things.
Derived products such as vaping devices, made with lithium batteries, are equally harmful to the environment.
They also engage in awareness and educational activities. In Marseille alone, over 450,000 cigarettes were collected.
Organizations such as “Cleanwalk,” “Clean my calanques,” and “Wings of the ocean” also participated in this “MEGOTHON.”
With millions of followers across his social media platforms, the initiative led by Inoxtag has the potential to raise awareness among the young people who follow him about the importance of reducing our impact on the environment and preserving nature.
