😯 Every night, my four-year-old son asked to sleep in our room. At first, I thought he was simply scared, but I quickly realized that it was actually a little indulgence. So, I refused him, explaining that he was already big and that he needed to sleep in his own room. What he said left us speechless.
When Leo was four years old, he already had his own room, but he often came into our room to sleep with us. At first, I thought he was afraid to sleep alone. Every night, he would slip under the covers, and I kept him close to me, thinking it was perfectly normal.
“Come here, my darling, I’ll protect you,” I would say as I welcomed him.
But over time, I understood that it wasn’t fear that made him come, but rather that he knew I would give in. So one evening, I firmly told him, “Leo, you’re a big boy now. You need to sleep in your room.”
He looked at me, surprised, and said, “Please, Mom, just one more night.”
I softly replied, “You’re a big boy now. You’re not scared anymore, and it’s time for you to sleep alone in your bed.”
At first, he cried a little, but I remained firm. Then, he said something that left my husband and me speechless.

Leo, with tears in his eyes, looked straight into my eyes and said, in a trembling voice: “Why does dad sleep with you when he’s bigger than me?”
This question left us speechless.
We could barely hold back our laughter.
It was as if he had found a flaw in my reasoning.
My husband stepped in, smiling gently.
“It’s different, my big boy,” he explained.
“Mom and Dad need to be together at night, but you’re now a big boy.”
After a moment of reflection, Leo finally agreed to go back to his room.
