š² During my husband’s funeral, I received a message from him: “It’s Nick. I’m alive. Don’t trust our children.” What I discovered next left me speechless.
After 42 years of marriage, losing my husband, Nick, was a terrible shock for me. On the day of the funeral, it was pouring rain, and the weather was dreadful.
Our children and all his friends were there to say their final goodbyes. I was standing there, in front of his grave, lost in thought, trying to make sense of it all. That’s when my phone vibrated. I didnāt want to look, but the second message made me jump.
The message said: “Darling, it’s Nick. Iām not dead. Donāt trust our children.”
I froze, completely stunned. It was indeed my husband’s number, but how was this possible? Who could have sent such a message at that exact moment, and why? I thought it was some kind of sick joke.
Our children were there, behind me, their eyes filled with tears. Still, I decided not to say anything to them. After the ceremony, I went home, and, exhausted, I asked my children to leave me alone.
When they left, I couldn’t resist checking the number again. It was still Nickās. I called, but no one answered. A few seconds later, I received another message: “Go to my friend Michaelās. Heāll explain everything.”
Without thinking twice, I decided to go to his house. When he opened the door, my heart nearly stopped. Behind him stood Nick, alive, very much alive, looking at me with a somewhat embarrassed expression. I couldnāt believe it.
They invited me in, and then they told me everything. Why Nick had been hiding from our children and why he had faked his death. I was shocked to learn the truthā¦
The rest of my story is in the article in the first comment ššš.
Nick explained to me in detail the shocking truth.
Apparently, our children had discovered Nick’s fragile health over the last few months and had started conspiring to make him disappear.
The inheritance, of course, was their main motive.
They knew that with his disappearance, they would inherit all his fortune, including the family home, and they planned to murder him to get what they wanted.
“I faked my death to buy time,” Nick explained to me in a low voice, full of pain.
“I knew that if I let them act without any response from me, they would eventually carry out their plan. But I didnāt want to lose you, or our children. So, with Michael, we came up with this plan to observe them and gather evidence.”
Thanks to that evidence, and with Michaelās help, they were arrested before they could act.
When I think about everything he did to protect our family, I feel both relieved and devastated.
But one thing is certain: no one expected this story to take such a turn.
